Dear HUUSD Families-
Please click here to read the full directive from Gov. Phil Scott closing our schools for the remainder of this school year. We all have many unanswered questions, most of which have no answers yet. As the information becomes known, we will keep you up to date. This is such a very difficult time for our country, state, district, and families. We are all scared, isolated, and finding our way in a new world that seems totally upside down. I believe the only way out is through, one day at a time.
I just sent a message to all staff that reads in part:
Our team was starting to feel a bit more settled this week as our teachers continue to do tremendous work with online learning, our food service team rocks it with doubling numbers and 5000+ meals served, our tech department has addressed most of the internet challenges and identified a map of hotspots, our custodians are keeping our buildings cleaner than ever, our bus drivers are delivering meals, and our admin team is meeting for two hours twice a week, getting into a rhythm in the new learning world. Now this. Just when you think things are figured out, something changes. However, we are Harwood Strong and will do whatever it takes while keeping our staff and students as safe as possible.
I know it is hard to stay calm, but that is what we need to do. Together, we will figure this out - one day - one week at a time. We need to stick together, help each other out, forgive our mistakes along the way, and take care of ourselves; physically, emotionally, soulfully, and in any other way that matters. Take time to love yourself, dig deep for positive mindset, and find our collective resilience. We got this and when it doesn't feel like it, it's a trust fall...one of us will be there to catch you.
We will get through this, together, as a strong community. I will do my best to keep everyone updated along the way. Please reach out to our staff, building principals, and myself. I want to wish you and your family continued good health during these trying times. Let me hear from you.
With warm regards,
Brigid
